Creator of the movie King Kong passes away
In California, in the 90th year of his life, the famous director John Guillermin died. According to The Hollywood Reporter, citing the director's wife, the cause of death was a heart attack. John Guillermin has many famous movies, including The Great Adventure of Tarzan, in which one of his first significant roles was played by Sean Connery, the military drama The Bridge of Remagen, the disaster movie Heaving Hell, and, of course, a new version of the movie "King Kong", released in 1976, in which Jessica Lange made her debut. Unlike the original version, Guillermin brought the action to modern times and sent oil workers, not a group of adventurers, to find the mysterious island. The movie was nominated for two Academy Awards, and Lange was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Feature Film Debut. In 1986, John Guillermin released a less successful sequel called King Kong Alive, which received a Golden Raspberry nomination for worst special effects. The main roles in the movie were played by Linda Hamilton, John Ashton, Peter Michael Goetz, Jim Grimshaw, Leon Rippie, Mike Starr, Jeff Bridges and other actors.
