Tim Robbins returns to HBO. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar (Mysterious River) winner will star in a new family drama directed by Alan Ball, creator of the hit series The Client is Always Dead and True Blood, for HBO. In the as-yet-untitled project, Holly Hunter (The Piano) plays the female lead.

The ten-episode drama focuses on the modern multinational family: a philosophy professor (Robbins), his lawyer wife (Hunter), three children they adopted from Somalia (Jerrika Hinton), Vietnam (Raymond Lee) and Colombia (Daniel Zovatto) and their biological daughter (Sosie Bacon). A seemingly prosperous family is actually going through a crisis. In addition, one of the children begins to see things which others do not see, and the question of mental illness arises. The series is a tragicomic reflection on how and how modern America lives.

Robbins will play Greg, a philosophy professor who reflects on his life and purpose in the world in which he lives. The tense relationship with his wife Audrey only aggravates his anxiety.

Robbins has already worked with HBO, starring in the comedy "On the Verge", which closed after the first season. From the upcoming projects of the actor – comedy drama "Marjorie Prime".
