Oscar winner Holly Hunter will continue to work on TV. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress will play the female lead in the as-yet-untitled Alan Ball (American Beauty) family drama commissioned by HBO.

The project focuses on the multicultural family : professor of philosophy, his lawyer wife, three adopted children from Somalia, Vietnam and Colombia and the couple's own biological child. A progressive family that looks perfect from the outside hides deep problems. One of the children begins to notice things that the others cannot see. Is it mental illness or something else?

Hunter will play Audrey Black, head of the Black-Bishop family. She and her husband Greg, "social idealists", decided to start a family, adopting "overseas" children before giving birth to their own when they were both already over forty. A former practicing therapist, Audrey is now reluctant to use her psychology skills in the corporate world, preferring to “make money” rather than philosophize. She is an intelligent, caring woman, confident that she knows best what her loved ones need and does not see a problem in telling them about it in person. But now that her husband is struggling with depression, and the children are practically grown, Audrey realizes that she is starting to go with the flow.

Ball has created the drama and will act as its executive producer. This will be the renowned writer / producer's fifth collaboration with HBO and its sister channel Cinemax. Together, the dramas "The Client is Always Dead", "True Blood" and "Banshee" were created. In the works is the TV movie "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks", which will debut on HBO in 2017.

Of the recent feature movies, Hunter – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the indie-drama Strange Weather.
