CBS has commissioned the production of a prequel to its hit show The Big Bang Theory, which will premiere in the 2017-2018 season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series dedicated to the childhood and adolescence of the original comedy protagonist, Sheldon Cooper, is called "Young Sheldon". The number of episodes in the series has not yet been determined.
