Audiences Demand Chinese Actress in Mulan Movie

A petition is gaining popularity on the Internet, addressed to the management of the Walt Disney studio, which demands to entrust the Asian actress with the leading role in the live version of the animated movie "Mulan". At the time of this writing, more than 90 thousand cartoon fans have signed it. The author of the appeal, Natalie Molnar, claims that she is only trying to prevent the appearance of a movie adaptation of a popular Chinese fairy tale, in which the key part will go to the white actress. As examples of such miscasting, she cites movies such as "The Lord of the Elements", released in 2010, and "Ghost in the Shell," which is still being movieed at the time of this writing.

Note that earlier in Hollywood scandals with "wrong" casting repeatedly arose. Thus, the creators of the movie "The Gods of Egypt" even had to apologize for the fact that most of the roles in the project, based on ancient Egyptian mythology, were played by whites.

Let's also remind that in the cartoon "Mulan" of 1998 the plot was built around a girl who decided to introduce herself as a man in order to take the place of her deceased father in the army. Walt Disney Studios announced their intention to shoot a game version in early 2015, but since then there has been no new information about the project.
