Canadian TV content company SEVEN24 Films and IDW Entertainment have announced that Syfy has acquired the rights to "Wynonna Earp," an action TV series based on the Bo Smith comic book series from IDW Publishing. Emily Andras (Call of Blood) has developed a thirteen-part television project and will act as showrunner and executive producer. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The plot of the series will focus on the great-granddaughter of Wyatt Earp and her struggle with demons and other supernatural beings. Witty and unrestrained, Winonna is a skilled marksman who uses her unique abilities and dubious allies to bring supernatural beasts to justice.

Melanie Scorfano (Damien) will play the main role. Tim Rozon (Being Human) will play rogue virtuoso Doc Holliday, and Shamir Anderson (Rookie Cops) has been cast as Dolls' mystery agent.

"Along with SEVEN24 Films, IDW Entertainment and the cast I’m sure we’ll get something special - a supernatural series that touches on the themes of revenge, honor and the struggle between good and evil. I’m not talking about a baby on a bike fighting demons-criminals. " Emily Andras said in a statement.

Production of the series will begin in August this year. Jordi Randall, Tom Cox, Ted Adams and David Ozer will act as executive producers. Estimated premiere date –
