HBO has changed its mind on a new series, On the Edge. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable channel has decided to close the comedy starring Tim Robbins and Jack Black after the first season, despite an announcement in July this year that the show will be renewed for a second season.

"After reviewing our schedule and assessing its needs, we unfortunately realized that we would not be able to give the second season of 'On the Verge' as it deserves. We are proud of the first season and wish everyone who took part in its creation, all the best, "HBO said in a statement.

The half-hour comedy, released in late June 2015 alongside The Players, starring Dwayne Johnson, was part of HBO's strategy to expand comedy content.

The series, created by Kim and Roberto Benabib, received mixed reviews. On Metacritic, its rating is 52, while the "Players", already renewed for a second season, - 65. The premiere of the series, broadcast at 22:30, attracted 1.6 million people. The audience of the "Gamblers" is 2.2 million people.

In addition to the "Gamblers," the HBO comedy series includes Doll and Em, Girls, Old Age Is Not Joy, Silicon Valley "," Unity "," VIP ".
