Filming for Star Wars: Episode 8 has begun. This was announced by the head of Walt Disney company Bob Iger, presenting the quarterly financial report of the structure headed by him. Excerpts from his speech are quoted by Comingsoon.

"Filming for the next episode of the legendary saga has already begun, and we confirm the previously announced premiere date in December 2017. Preparations have also begun for Episode 9, with an eye to a 2019 premiere," he announced.

Bob Iger also confirmed that movieing for Star Wars: The Outcast has been completed and the company management is "absolutely thrilled with what we've seen." The head of Walt Disney clarified that a spin-off dedicated to the famous smuggler Han Solo will be released, as previously planned, in May 2018.

Star Wars Episode 8 is expected to feature Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Gwendoline Christie, John Boyega, Benicio Del Toro and more.

The plot of the picture at the time of this writing was not specified. Ryan Johnson has been appointed as director. Recall that the original premiere of "Star Wars 8" was supposed to take place in May 2017, but then the studio Lucasmovie moved it to December.
