The Paramount movie studio has not abandoned its plans to relaunch the popular in the past mystical thriller "The Ring". According to The Wrap, little-known model and actress Matilda Lutz will play the main role in the sequel.

At the time of this writing, it was not known whether the new movie will be a direct sequel to the American version of the Japanese horror movie, or whether it will be an independent project. The director is F. Javier Gutierrez. Terms of work and a possible rental schedule have not yet been specified.

Recall that the plot of the movie was built around a mysterious video, after watching which the audience died under unclear circumstances exactly seven days later. The main character conducts her own investigation, during which she comes to the conclusion that all the victims were victims of revenge by a girl endowed with supernatural abilities named Samara.

The Hollywood version of The Ring, which was released in 2002, was movieed by Pirates of the Caribbean creator Gor Verbinski. The movie, with a production budget of $ 48 million, grossed $ 249 million worldwide. In 2005, director Hideo Nakata movieed a much less successful sequel. Naomi Watts starred in both movies.
