Hayley Atwell ("Agent Carter") will star in the television adaptation of Edward Morgan Forster's "Howards End", directed and written by Kenneth Lonergan, drama "Manchester by the Sea". The four-part miniseries co-produced by the BBC and Starz also feature Matthew McFaden (Ripper Street) and Tracey Ullman (How I Met Your Mother) as key roles. The director's chair will be taken by Hetty MacDonald (Doctor Who). This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The drama will tell about the social changes taking place in England at the end of the 19th and 20th centuries, using the example of three families: the idealistic Schlegel intellectuals, successful Wilcox businessmen and immigrants from working class Bastov.

Atwell will play Margaret Schlegel, McFayden will play Henry Wilcox, and Ullman will play Aunt Julie Mund.

Colin Kallander, Joshua D. Morer, Alexander Whitlin, David A. Stern and others will share the executive production responsibilities.

Howards End will be movieed in and around London. The miniseries will be broadcasted by BBC One and Starz.

Based on Forster's novel, published in 1910, the movie "Howards End" was shot in 1992 with the participation of Anthony Hopkins, Helena Bonham Carter, Vanessa Redgrave and Emma Thompson. The movie won three Oscars.

BBC One announced work on the adaptation of the novel at the end of 2015, long before Lonergan gained widespread attention with the drama Manchester by the Sea.
