The world's largest e-ticket retailer, Fandango, faced with technical problems due to huge ticket demand for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, has released an official press release citing specific numbers.

A document cited by the LA Times claims that "hundreds of thousands of tickets" were sold in just a few minutes. “We were able to handle a record number of clients on an emergency basis throughout the night, despite some disruptions, and in order to meet the incredible consumer demand, our partners agreed to add additional sessions during the premiere weekend,” it said in a statement. >

Recall that the demand was so great that the company's servers could not cope with the load and were unavailable for some time. In the future, Fandango was forced to create something like an electronic queue, in which customers had to wait 20-30 minutes to access the section for ordering tickets. Other sellers faced similar problems.

The first Star Wars spin-off kicks off in the US on December 16, 2016. It will focus on the rebel group's attempts to steal the Death Star's plans.
