Avatar 2 uses new capture systems

To create the sequels of the fantastic movie "Avatar", James Cameron will use new movieing systems, which lack the traditional markers and "green screens" for image capture schemes. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

A basic system called SolidTrack was developed by the French company Solid Anim. Its unfinished version was first tested while working on the 2014 television series Cosmos, and it was then that it caught the attention of Avatar producer John Landau and Cameron himself.

The SolidTrack creators received an offer to move from Paris to Los Angeles, where they continued their research in order to meet the requirements of the Avatar director.

According to the head of the company Isaac Partush, the virtual imaging complex eliminates the stage of movieing against the background of green screens and can interact directly with popular video editing programs such as Autodesk's MotionBuilder and Maya. Also at the traditional NAB Show in Las Vegas, Solid Anim unveiled the new SolidVCam virtual camera.

Recall that all three sequels will be shot simultaneously at 48fps and 4K resolution. Avatar 2 is expected to hit viewers in 2017.
