Tarsem Sinh will direct all ten episodes of NBC's upcoming series, Emerald City, which is curated by writer and executive producer David Schulner. Marked as a modern and dark version of the classic Game of Thrones-inspired Wizard of Oz, the series is executive produced by Sean Cassidy and actors Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ana Ularu and Jerran Howell. This is reported by the Deadline edition.

In the series, the tornado transports twenty-year-old Dorothy Gale and her police dog to a world that exists separately from our – a mysterious land of kingdoms competing with each other, merciless warriors, dark magic and bloody battles for power. Adria Arjona (In Sight) was cast as Dorothy last month.

Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Dracula, The Raven) will play the handsome, mysterious and resourceful Lucas. Dorothy discovers him beaten, bleeding and groaning in the ruins of his village. The only survivor of the mass extermination, he does not remember anything from his past, not even his name. He joins Dorothy on her journey to the Emerald City, and, experiencing one danger after another with her, proves his loyalty and courage.

Ularu ("Inferno") will play West, the force of the elements, who entered into a devilish alliance with the Wizard. Depraved and seductive, she is a creature of twisted humor and questionable desires. She lives in an expensive brothel and is like a hostess there.

Howell ("The Queen and Country") got the role of the brave, an optimistic and adventurous Jack.

From the recent feature-length works of Tarsem – the sci-fi thriller Beyond / Myself starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley.
