Homeland star Rupert Friend was injured while movieing the first and second episodes of Showtime's sixth season in New York City. According to Entertainment Weekly, due to Friends injury, production of the sixth season will be temporarily suspended.

A friend, who arrived at the 2016 Emmy Awards party on crutches, admitted to breaking a bone in his right ankle foot outside the set. However, while working in the fourth and fifth seasons of the drama, the actor twice seriously tucked his right leg, which weakened his ligaments.

The British actor is temporarily suspended from movieing, and at the time of this writing, the executive producer and director of the third and fourth episodes Leslie Linka Glatter is producing scenes, not requiring the participation of Friend.

Showrunner Alex Gansa noted that a temporary hitch will not affect the date of the premiere in any way – the sixth season, as planned, will be released on January 15, 2016.

In season six, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) returned to the United States and works for a New York City organization that offers assistance to Muslims living in the United States. In June of this year, Danes hinted in an interview with EW that we will see a different side of Carrie in the upcoming season.
