Guardians of the Galaxy moviemaker James Gunn stood up for superhero movies. The director's rebuke came after jokes about superhero projects at the 2015 Oscars, as well as criticism from director Dan Gilroy at the Independent Spirit Awards. The latter, accepting the award for the screenplay of "Stringer", urged his colleagues "to keep under the onslaught of the tsunami wave from superhero movies sweeping through the industry." Gann's answer was posted on his Facebook page. "As a rule, what is becoming very popular is criticized by the so-called" elite. "I have already won more > awards than I thought for my Guardians of the Galaxy. What bothers me a little is this the assumption that those who make big-budget movies are less fond of them, care less about the result and put in less labor than those who make independent movies or more "serious" ones.
