Illumination Entertainment has postponed the premiere of The Grinch Stole Christmas animated movie for a year. According to Deadline, instead of November 10, 2017, as previously planned, the project will be presented to viewers on November 9, 2018.

The reason for the change in the rental schedule was not specified. On the indicated date, the cartoon has no direct competitors, but exactly one week later the movie "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2" will be released, targeting approximately the same audience.

Recall that the project will be based on the work of the same name by the writer Dr. Suss, published in 1957. According to the plot, the action takes place in the fabulous city of Ktograd, whose inhabitants once offended their fellow tribesman Grinch, and the latter planned to deprive them of their main holiday - Christmas.

Peter Kandeland is listed as the director of the cartoon. The Grinch himself is expected to be voiced by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch. The distributor of the project will be Universal Pictures.

In the year 200, the studio released a full-length movie based on the work of Doctor Suss. The main role in it was played by Jim Carrey, who was then at the peak of his fame. Despite controversial criticism, the movie grossed over $ 340 million.
