There were no zombies in the world of The Walking Dead

In the world described in the popular TV series The Walking Dead, there were no zombies and no mention of them, and this explains the absence of the term itself in the vocabulary of heroes. This sensational statement was made on the Conan program by the creator of the original comic, Robert Kirkman.

According to him, an unknown infection really turned most of the world's population into carnivorous monsters, which viewers are familiar with as zombies, but the heroes of the comics and TV series themselves do not know about such a phenomenon. In the world of Rick Grimes and his companions, there were no such movies as "Night of the Living Dead", "Zombie named Sean" and other elements of pop culture dedicated to this phenomenon.

Robert Kirkman explained this by the fact that the invented characters had to be "completely ignorant" in order to learn how to survive surrounded by unknown creatures. If they had known about zombies earlier, the epidemic would not have become as widespread.

Recall that the series "The Walking Dead" has been broadcast by AMC since 2010. At the time of this writing, the show is in its seventh season. The Walking Dead has held the top spot in North America's top-rated television series for several years.
