In the TV sequel to "Training Day" on CBS, an actor has been confirmed for the lead role. Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Bill Paxton will star in the pilot of a drama based on the 2001 feature movie of the same name. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The sequel takes place 15 years after the events of the movie. In the series, which is positioned as a kind of reimagining of the movie, the focus is on a young idealist African American policeman who was assigned to an elite squad of the Los Angeles police. His partner is an experienced detective with dubious moral principles.

Paxton will play LAPD veteran Frank Rourke, a cop, the head of the Special Investigations Section, the unit dealing with the dirtiest work. Rourke lives by the laws of the jungle and believes that the real courage lies in pursuing bad guys where the law does not work. Obviously, Frank is not eager to babysit newcomer Kyle Craig (casting for the role is still underway). Denzel Washington received an Oscar for his role, which went to Paxton. Ethan Hawke played the young cop in the movie.

Of Paxson's recent work on television – two History Channel series, Hatfields & McCoys and The Texas Revolution, and a recurring role in SHIELD. At the end of March this year the crime drama Term of Life with the participation of the actor will be released.
