Amazon Studios, owned by the world's largest e-commerce store, has announced plans to produce full-length movies for wide distribution.

"Our goal is to shoot 10-12 movies in a year. Production of the first of them will begin in 2015," said Vice President Roy Price. According to him, the company's management expects to help "moviemakers who often find it very difficult to tell the audience their fascinating stories." Exactly what this assistance will consist of is not specified.

In addition to movie production, the company intends to deal with distribution, as well as present full-length movie projects through its Amazon Prime Instant Video service. Subscribers are said to have a unique opportunity to see movies just 4-8 weeks after their theatrical debut in North America.

Let us remind you that Amazon is actively trying to take a part of the entertainment content market and collaborates with famous directors such as Steven Soderbergh, Woody Allen, Ridley Scott and Carlton Cuse, each of whom has shot pilot episodes for different projects. Amazon traditionally makes pilot viewing of potential TV shows available to Prime Instant Video subscribers, allowing viewers to vote on the project they would like to watch in the future.
