Netflix Unveils Catalog Black Lives Matters
The streaming service Netflix has formed a new catalog of movies, TV series and documentaries under the title Black Lives Matters. “When we say,“ Black lives matter, ”we also mean,“ Black stories matter. With the understanding that our commitment to true, systemic change will take time, we begin by singling out powerful and complex narratives of black experiences, ”the company said in a statement. Netflix specifically noted that the list includes projects "that are just beginning to tell complex and multi-layered stories of racial injustice and" black injustice "in America." The catalog includes such movies as "Moonlight", "Malcolm X", TV series "Luke Cage", "Orange is the New Black" and many others. Recall that all this took place against the backdrop of large-scale actions protests that began shortly after the death of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, who died during a brutal detention by local police officers. Demonstrations often ended with pogroms and robberies of expensive shops and the destruction of private and state property. Many Hollywood stars supported the protesters.
