Matt Smith is expected to donate a significant portion of his royalties from the hit television series The Crown to combat the practice of sexual harassment in the movie industry today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, such a call is contained in a petition addressed to the actor who played the wife of Queen Elizabeth II.

Fans of the show were outraged by the fact that, according to the producers of "Crown", Matt Smith earned more than starring Claire Foy. In this regard, the authors of the petition urge the actor to donate the difference to the Time`s Up fund.

"Women in all industries face the problem of equality in pay. Women in the United States usually earn 80 cents instead of a dollar , which is paid to their male colleagues for the same time frame and amount of work. And the pay gap for women of other races is even more striking. Black women typically receive only 63 cents for every dollar paid to white men, Hispanic women only 54 cents, "the petition says.

Note that Matt Smith is a better known and experienced actor than Claire Foy. He has been the star of other popular television projects, notably Doctor Who.
