Chris Evans will no longer play the role of Captain America after the release of the fourth and as-yet-untitled Avengers movie. Such a confession was made by the actor himself in an interview with The NY Times.

"You have to be able to jump off the rushing train in time before you were pushed off," he said. The final stage of movieing for the movie, tentatively titled Avengers 4, will end in fall 2018. Probably, this is where Evans's superhero career will end /

Thus, rumors that someone from the current Avengers may not survive the meeting with Thanos may have received indirect confirmation. Although it is possible that the actor's comments are intended to mislead viewers.

Note that in the original comics, different characters lurked behind Captain America's shield at different times. So, in one of the storylines, Steve Rogers was replaced by his friend Bucky Barnes. Also, Sam Wilson, better known as the Falcon, tried on the Captain's uniform.

Evans' contract included participation in six Marvel movies. It was extended to allow the actor to star in the fourth Avengers movie. Its release is scheduled for May 2019.
