Jared Leto will play Playboy founder and permanent head Hugh Hefner in a biopic. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The movie will be directed by Brett Ratner, creator of Hercules and How to Steal a Skyscraper.
"Jared is an old friend of mine. When he heard that I had acquired the rights to shoot a movie about Hef, he told me: "I want to play it. I want to understand him. "And I believe that Jared can do it. He is one of the best actors of our time," commented the director.
The movie will be produced by RatPac Entertainment. It is worth noting that the project itself was conceived back in 2007. It was planned to be implemented with the support of Universal Studios. For some time, Robert Downey Jr. was considered a potential performer of the title role.
Most likely, the movie adaptation of Hugh Hefner's biography became relevant again after the death of the founder of Playboy. Hefner passed away on September 28, 2017 at the age of 91. In addition to publishing, he has produced and even played bit parts in various television projects such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sex and the City, Handsome Men, as well as the animated series The Simpsons, Family Guy and Robot Chicken.
