Chinese developer Shadow Creator has announced a branded device in the emerging virtual reality market - its Shadow VR headset could become a worthy competitor to Oculus, HTC, Sony, Samsung and Google headsets.
The open source wireless novelty for immersion in virtual reality received high-quality hardware and optics. The headset is supported by the Wave VR outdoor area.
The Snapdragon 835 chipset found in many smartphones in 2017 powers the VR headset. The charge supports a 3400mAh battery. If needed, the Shadow VR can be used with an external wire when connected to a power source. The helmet is equipped with a USB Type-C port to recharge.
The screen supports 2560x1440 resolution. Fresnel lenses are used in the optics of the device. Their fundamental difference and at the same time their advantage is their smaller thickness and wider viewing angle (110 degrees). The lens design allows for less distortion at the output. In front of the helmet are two stereoscopic camera modules.
The sensors built into the Shadow VR helmet provide six degrees of freedom, tracking movements in all directions. Their presence directly inside the headset makes it possible not to install additional sensors in the external space. Sensors of this kind are also built into the proprietary Shadow Creator controllers that come with the helmet. The controller device provides all the necessary controls, some of which are placed on the side edges (by analogy with the PlayStation Move). The Shadow VR headset is priced at $ 400.
