The leadership of the International Berlin Film Festival refused to support the demand of the participants in the #MeToo movement - to change the color of the carpet at the opening ceremony from red to black and focus the participants' attention on the problem of sexual harassment. This is reported by the publication Deadline.

"We are certainly worried about this problem, but changing the color of the carpet is not the way to combat this phenomenon that we need," - said festival director Dieter Koslik. At the same time, he stressed that he has no right to forbid the stars to appear at the ceremony in black outfits, as was the case at similar events in North America. "We have complete freedom of expression here," he added.

Note that the corresponding requirement for the leadership of the movie forum was contained in a special petition, which was published in the Change aggregator system by the famous German actress Claudia Eisinger. More than 23 thousand people have signed it.

The 68th Berlin International Film Festival will take place from 15 to 25 February 2018. USA in the main competition program will be represented by a picture of the USA director Alexei German Jr. titled "Dovlatov", dedicated to the famous Soviet writer.
