Wolves creator David Hayter presented working material for the 2003 movie adaptation of the Watchmen comic book. As he himself noted on his official Twitter page, in his version the role of the Night Owl was to be played by Ian Glen, and the role of Rorschach by Ray Stevenson.

The video captured one of the opening scenes in which Rorschach informs Sowa about death of the Comedian. The music was composed by Joey Kremer. Note that Universal hired Hayter to adapt the comic in 2001. However, the project was never put into production due to "creative disagreements" between the director and the management.

In the future, Paramount Pictures studio was going to be involved in the movie adaptation, counting on the participation of director Darren Aronofsky. These plans were also not destined to be realized. A little later, the rights were bought by Warner Bros. and invited Zach Snyder as a director. The movie he created was released in 2009 and flopped at the box office. With a production budget of $ 130 million, he was able to raise only $ 185 million. The main roles were played by Jackie Earl Haley, Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup, Malin Ackerman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino and others.

In 2019, fans of the Watchmen comic could appreciate the series based on its motives.
