Stallone will go to coaching

Image Two years ago, Creed: Rocky's Legacy received rave reviews in the press, more than four times recouped its budget and brought Sylvester Stallone the first Oscar nomination since the original Rocky. Unsurprisingly, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Warner Bros. announced their desire to film a sequel to the boxing drama two months after its premiere.

The release of "Creed 2" was scheduled for November 2017, but soon MGM and WB had to adjust their plans. The sports drama was kicked off by Marvel Studios, which invited director Ryan Coogler and actor Michael B. Jordan to take part in the creation of the superhero blockbuster Black Panther.

By now, Jordan has already vacated his work schedule for filming the sequel to Creed, but Kugler had to give up his position as the steering project. In October, it became known that Sylvester Stallone was ready to replace Ryan in the director's chair of the film. However, Variety managed to find out that the creators of the drama still preferred fresh blood to the experience.

The film will be directed by young director Stephen Capel Jr., who earned critical praise last year for his debut film, Promised Land. As for Stallone, he will limit himself to the functions of a screenwriter, producer and performer of the role of the mentor of the young boxer Adonis Creed.

The script for the new chapter of the sports saga helped Slay write the showrunner of the popular television comics "Luke Cage" Cheo Hodari Cocker. The details of the plot of the film are still kept secret, but Stallone has already managed to hint to the audience that his hero can expect a new meeting with Ivan Drago performed by Dolph Lundgren.

The film's production team is expected to begin work in Philadelphia next March. The world premiere of "Creed 2" is scheduled for November 21, 2018.
