Jackie Chan will receive an honorary Oscar
The Board of Governors of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the names of four individuals to be named Oscars this November. Distinguished Service Awards will go to Jackie Chan Actor, Frederick Weissman Documentary, Anne W. Coates Editor, and Casting Director Lynn Stahlmaster .Chan began his distinguished film career at the age of eight. In his youth, Jackie moonlighted as a stuntman and extras actor, but soon Chinese directors began to invite him to the main roles. The real breakthrough in the career of Chan was the film "The Serpent in the Shadow of the Eagle", during the work on which he was instructed to independently develop and stage stunts. The tape not only became a hit in Hong Kong, but also served as an impetus for the development of the genre of a comedy action movie about martial arts. Since then, Jackie has managed to try himself as a director, screenwriter, cameraman, editor, illuminator and even a composer. In the 90s, Chan began to actively act in Hollywood, finally securing his status as the world star of the big screen.  The Board of Governors of the American Film Academy has decided to give a nice gift to Frederick Weissman , who next year will celebrate 50 years since the start of his film career. Over the years, he has had a hand in the creation of over forty documentaries. Frederick has never been nominated for an Oscar , but has won three Emmy awards for his television projects.  Academicians will also acknowledge the contributions of Anne W. Coates to the cinema. The first film of the Englishwoman as an editor was the drama Papers of the Pickwick Club, which was released in 1952. Ten years later, Anne won an Oscar for her work on one of the greatest motion pictures in history, the drama Lawrence of Arabia. 90-year-old Coates also has films such as Murder on the Orient Express, The Elephant Man, Erin Brockovich, and Chaplin.  Lynn Stahlmaster started out in Hollywood as an actor, but in the mid-50s he decided to become a casting expert. Over the years, he has selected cast for many popular films and revealed to the world the names of such stars as Jon Voight, Richard Dreyfuss, Jill Clayburgh, Christopher Reeve and John Travolta.  The Distinguished Achievement Award for Cinematography was established in 1948. For sixty years, its laureates have been awarded as part of the annual Oscars , after which academics have begun giving out a special award from the Board of Governors at the Governors Awards . This year, the gold statuettes will find their owners on November 12 . As for the 89th Oscars Awards, it will take place on February 26 in Los Angeles.
