During her career, Mia Wasikowska has visited both Wonderland and the magical Wonderland. Now the actress has decided to go backstage at the theater and signed up to take part in the filming of the feature film Judy and Punch. The film will be written and directed by Mirra Folks. The plot will be based on the story of two puppeteers: the charismatic Punch and his talented wife Judy (Wasikowska), desperately trying to revive their theatrical show.|
The project will be funded by Vice Media Australia and Blue Tongue Films, and will be executive produced by Academy Award nominee Vincent Landey and Vice Media Creative Director Eddie Moretti. Filming for the project will not begin in Australia until April 2018, but Mirra Faulkes has already described the film as “a mind-blowing mix of fantasy, feminism and bigotry.
The filmmakers believe that Faulkes not only managed to write a brilliant script, but also to bring his own vision to the upcoming film. The new project will show the viewer a world where cruelty, violence and misogyny prevail, but at the same time there is a place for magic.
