With a start-up capital of $ 1 billion, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Margaret Whitman's company has already recruited famous film and television figures such as Guillermo del Toro, Sam Raimi and Steven Spielberg. Today the creator of the TV series "The Tudors", "Camelot" and "Vikings" Michael Hirst joined this stellar company.The British screenwriter will delight the audience with another historical project. The protagonist of Hirst's new series will be the King of the Franks and Lombards, the Duke of Bavaria and the Emperor of the West - Charles I, nicknamed the Great. The representative of the Carolingian dynasty became the first ruler since the Roman Empire, who managed to unite most of Western Europe. It is not surprising that historians have awarded Charles the honorary title of Father of Europe. The format of the series has not yet been announced. The brainchild of Katzenberg and Whitman is positioned as an online service for mobile device owners. In this regard, it is assumed that the average duration of a series of Quibi TV projects will be significantly shorter than the standard 40-50 minutes. Either Hirst has figured out how to shoot a multi-episode historical show in a short format, or the online service is ready to produce some of the series in the traditional version.  Hirst's plans remain to work on the television epic "Caesari" and an eight-part mini-series based on Boris Pasternak's novel "Doctor Zhivago".
