Today the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the list of those who will compete for the main award in the world of cinema next month. The names of the Oscar nominees were announced by actors John Cho and Isa Rae. The 92nd awards ceremony will take place on February 9 at the Dolby Cinema in Los Angeles, and for the second year in a row, the event will do without a host - last year's ratings proved that in the absence of a professional entertainer, Americans are more willing to watch the Oscars. The favorite of the upcoming ceremony looks like "Joker", presented in 11 nominations, but three films that have ten references each are breathing down his back - "1917", "Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood" and "The Irishman". In terms of outstanding achievement, composer John Williams received his 52nd Oscar nomination in his career, a record for any living filmmaker. Well, Saoirse Ronan, at the age of 25, will compete for the golden idol for the fourth time, and previously only Jennifer Lawrence could boast of such agility. Let us remind you that last year the Academy made some changes to the rules for selecting nominees. For example, the Best Foreign Language Film category was renamed the Best International Feature Film, and the number of nominees for the Best Makeup and Hair Style award increased from three to five. Directors David Lynch and Lina Werthmuller, as well as actors Wes Studi and Gina Davis have already received their special Oscars this fall.
