US Boxing Office: Joker got his back

Image The weekend leading up to Halloween turned out to be calm, which did not surprise analysts, since now the heads of Americans are busy preparing for Halloween. However, there were some interesting confrontations at the box office: two charismatic movie villains, Maleficent and Joker, came together in the ring, who, in fact, divided the two top lines of the top-5 among themselves.

The top five US box offices for October 25-27 are as follows:

1. "Joker"

Image

Week at the box office: 4
Added: $ 18.9 million
Total box office: $ 277.6 million
Sank / Rise: +1 (-35%)

If last week the Joker lost to debutante Maleficent, then this weekend he returned to the top of the financial rating, although he did not break away from the Disney fairy tale by very little. But in the world box office, Joker climbed to the $ 850 million mark, thus beating Wonder Woman ($ 821.8 million) and almost catching up with Venom ($ 856.1 million).

2. "Maleficent: Lady of Darkness"

Image

Week at the box office: 2
Added: $ 18.5 million
Total box office: $ 65.4 million
Lowered / Up: -1 (-49.8%)

The sequel to "Maleficent" turned out to be one of the main disappointments of the fall on the American film market. The first part by the end of the second week had a little more than $ 128 million, so the sequel clearly did not interest the audience. Fortunately, outside of her native cinemas, Maleficent is doing better, and she has already grossed $ 293.5 million worldwide.

3. "The Addams Family"

Image

Week at the box office: 3
Added: $ 11.7 million
Total box office: $ 72.8 million
Sank / Rise: +1 (-28%)

On the eve of Halloween, "The Addams Family" again attracted the attention of viewers, and therefore the cartoon climbed one position up, taking third place from the zombies and their fighters. In a week, the Addams have overtaken the Storks ($ 72.7 million) and are threatening to surpass the result of the Emoji Film ($ 86.1 million). According to forecasts, the animation tape should eventually earn about $ 90 million.

4. "Zombieland: Control Shot"

Image

Week at the box office: 2
Added: $ 11.6 million
Total box office: $ 47 million
Sag / Rise: -1 (-57%)

The continuation of the black comedy of 2009 had to be content with only the fourth place, but, unlike the new "Maleficent", "Control Shot" at least did not disappoint its predecessor and so far goes head to head with him. By the next weekend, however, the sequel will begin to lag behind, as already this week it sank much more than the first part.

5. "Countdown"

Week at the box office: 1
Added: $ 9 million
Total box office: $ 9 million
Sank / Rise: - (-)

Justin Deck's horror film was the only rookie of the week to make it into the top five, although reviews from critics and viewers who gave it a low C + left a lot to be desired. For the film, which cost about $ 6.5 million, "Countdown" started off well - faster than "Comatosers" ($ 5.5 million) and "Fear Your Desires" ($ 6.6 million) and on par with "Doll" ($ 10, 8 million).
