Image James Horner passed away today at the age of 62. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter , the Oscar-winning composer's single-seat plane crashed near Santa Barbara. The information on the death of Horner was confirmed by his assistant Sylvia Patricia . “We lost a great man who had an incredible gift and a big heart,” wrote Sylvia on her Facebook .

James started playing the piano at the age of five. In the late 70s, the young composer was invited to write music for several projects of the American Film Institute , and soon his work aroused the interest of major Hollywood studios. The real breakthrough in the career of Horner was the blockbuster Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan. Over the next few years, James took part in the creation of films "48 Hours", "Commando", "Cocoon" and many other hits of the 80s.

In 1987, James won the first two (out of ten) Oscar nominations for his American History song and the music for Aliens. Eleven years later, a new collaboration with James Cameron on Titanic brought Horner two cherished statuettes at once - for the best music and the song " My Heart Will Go On ".
