The Eighth ”Fast and the Furious” continues its search for a director
There are still three months left until the end of 2015, and Universal Pictures can already consider itself a triumphant. The studio's films were breaking records one by one, and Fast and Furious 7, Jurassic World and Minions grossed over $ 1 billion each worldwide.Undoubtedly, Universal bosses want to see the sequel to the hit movie series The Fast and the Furious , and the eighth installment is already scheduled to premiere on April 14, 2017 . However, The Hollywood Reporter managed to find out that not everything goes smoothly during the preparation of the project - the film still has not found a director. The contract for the director of Fast and the Furious 7 James Wan was originally designed for three films in the franchise at once. But after finishing work on the seventh part, Wang made it clear to the leadership of Universal that he prefers to tackle another project - the sequel to the horror "The Conjuring".  The studio supported Wang's decision and immediately approached Justin Lin , who directed the four-part series. But Lin preferred Fast and the Furious another, no less attractive offer - the filmmaker went to the stage of the blockbuster "Star Trek 3". The source reports that Wang refused to work on the eighth Fast and the Furious not only because of the busy work schedule, but also because the work on the previous film was given to him heavy. First of all, due to the tragic death of Paul Walker, which entailed rewriting the script and additional filming. Insiders also report that Wang had conflicts with Vin Diesel, who controlled every little thing. At the same time, the official representatives of the actor and director deny such information.  However, the fact remains - Universal has not yet been able to find a director for the next part of one of its most popular franchises. Producer Neil H. Moritz said the following about this:“We enjoyed working with James , but he did not initially plan to lead the production of the eighth film. At the moment we are actively looking for a talented director who is ready to work on such a large-scale project as Fast and Furious .  Among the possible candidates, the studio bosses considered Jaume Serra , but he was also busy. Some sources even suggest that Vin Diesel himself may take over the director's duties, because the actor has already directed the filming of the short film "Bandits". But, according to other journalists, Diesel is unlikely to want to take responsibility for such a serious project.
