The film adaptation of ”It” was left without a director
As it became known to the information portal The Wrap , Carey Fukunaga has left the post of director of the film adaptation of Stephen King's novel It . According to insider information, Fukunagi is at odds with New Line due to the studio's recent decision to cut the film's budget and not backing the director's creative ideas.Thus, Fukunaga wanted the film to be filmed in New York and planned to split the story into two films. However, New Line , to which the project moved recently from Warner Bros. , did not accept the director's terms. Also, such a decision could be influenced by the fact that the recently released "Poltergeist", in the promo campaign of which the image of a clown was used, earned only $ 22.6 million on its first weekend, which did not please the studio bosses. .  Fukunaga is an ardent fan of King and It in particular. He always believed that the work deserves a large-scale adaptation. The director's ambitious plans included the shooting of two films, one of which would tell about the main teenage characters, and in the second, they would appear at a more mature age. This idea was perceived by the studio as risky, especially since the role of Pennywise Fukunaga chose the young and talented, but still little-known to the general public, Will Poulter ("The Maze Runner").  It is not yet known whether New Line will look for a replacement for the departed director and further develop the project, or will want to completely rethink the idea of the film adaptation. The film is written by Fukunagi and Chase Palmer and produced by Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Doug Davison, Seth Graham-Smith and David Katzenberg.
