Michael Keaton will take over the training of the mercenaries
Michael Keaton (Birdman) has a key role in a new collaboration between CBS Films and Lionsgate American Assassin , reports the portal / Film . The film, which could later develop into a full-fledged franchise, will be directed by Michael Cuesta ("Dexter" / Dexter ), and the script was written by Stephen Schiff ("Real Crime") based on the novel of the same name by Vince Flynn.In the story, a young CIA officer Mitch Rapp (an actor has not yet been chosen for this role) must be trained by an experienced, but gloomy and vicious Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Keaton) . The film begins with Mitch's fiancee murdered by terrorists, and the CIA commissions Hurley to train Rapp to conduct anti-terrorist operations. Subsequently, this couple will have to join forces with an agent of the Turkish special services to stop the outbreak of the Third World War.  The thriller has not yet received a release date, but it is known that filming will start this summer. Mitch Rapp is the centerpiece of 14 of Flynn's novels, so if American Killer succeeds, the writers will have enough material for multiple sequels. Stan Hurley is also positioned as one of the main elements of this author's universe, so the filmmakers approached the casting issue very scrupulously.
