US Box Office fell under rapper pressure
Over the past weekend ( August 21-23 ), there have been no changes in the camp of the leaders of the North American box office: street rappers and the indestructible Ethan Hunt performed by Tom Cruise still rule the ball ... The newcomers of the rental could not compete with them.The musical biopic " Voice of the Streets ", according to the results of the second week, continues to hold the first position. The drama about the group that turned gangsta rap into the mainstream, although it lost 56% of its audience last weekend, has managed to add an impressive $ 26.8 million to its piggy bank. All in all, "Voice of the Streets" , thanks to its drive and unbeatable topic, emptied the wallets of viewers for $ 111.5 million . By the way, the success of the film allows the studio Universal for the 13th week in a row to hold the lead in the home distribution.  The adventurer Ethan Hunt is not losing ground either: a step below Street Voices is the fifth part of the Mission: Impossible franchise. Last week, Christopher McQuarrie , full of action and gripping tricks, was able to raise $ 11.7 million , thus achieving a result of $ 158 million for the entire run in North America.  The third and fourth positions of the financial standings are occupied by the newcomers of the rental - the horror " Sinister 2 " and the crime thriller " Hitman: Agent 47 ". The second film from the Sinister film series, directed by Ciaran Foy , should have, according to critics' estimates, earned about $ 14-15 million on its first weekend. But in the end, the horror was only able to reach the mark of $ 10.6 million , although with this amount the film was already able to recapture the budget spent on its production ( $ 10 million ).  At the same time, the sequel is significantly inferior in terms of performance to its predecessor with Ethan Hawke in the title role: in 2011, the first part of the franchise added $ 18 million to its debut weekend. But the picture Foy , according to reviewers, is full of cliches inherent in most horror films, and is unlikely to scare the audience.  The fourth place in the box office went to the next adaptation of the video game Hitman : the film of the Fox film company grossed $ 8.2 million . This is the studio's second attempt to adapt the popular game for big screens: in 2007, a thriller starring Timothy Olyphant in its first week earned $ 13 million . In its current version, the British Rupert Friend has appeared in the image of the murderously elegant Agent 47 . The actor's play drew some criticism from critics, but most of all stones were thrown into the garden of the director and scriptwriters: the film does not carry a single message, and if you cut out all the action scenes, the adventures of Agent 47 would fit into Ten minutes. Judging by the results of the first rental week, viewers mostly agree with the professional reviewers.  The spy thriller “ Agents of ANKL ” closes the top five. How many hopes were pinned on the new brainchild of Guy Ritchie , but they did not come true either on the first week of the show, or on the second. Over the past weekend, the film, starring Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill, grossed an additional $ 7.4 million . At the moment, the total collection of the picture at home distribution has reached the level of $ 26.6 million , which is only a third of the budget spent on filming the tape ( $ 75 million ).
