In America, the traditional season for the distribution of valuable film and television awards continues to gain momentum. Following American critics and producers, the world's largest union of actors, radio hosts, singers and media workers, SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio) presented their prizes. The 25th Anniversary Screen Actors Guild Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The event was hosted by actress Megan Mullally. Winning a union award automatically makes the actors the top favorites for the Oscar race. Suffice it to say that over the past quarter century, Guild members only 11 times failed to predict the names of the winners of the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards in the nominations for Best Actor and Best Actress. Moreover, last year all four SAG-AFTRA winners in the categories for film projects repeated their success at the Oscars. Rami Malek, Glenn Close and Mahershala Ali have seriously improved their quotes for winning the 91st Academy Awards today. However, it became clear that this year the Actors Guild and the Academy of Sciences would not be able to achieve full agreement: Emily Blunt won the union prize, but was not included in the list of nominees for the Oscar - 2019. As part of today's ceremony, a special trade union award was also presented. SAG-AFTRA made a wonderful gift for the 83rd birthday of Alan Alda, awarding the legend of American film and television with an honorary prize for his special contribution to the development of the industry. 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards: MOVIE Best Ensemble cast - Black Panther Best Actor - Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) Best Actress - Glenn Close ("The Wife") Best Supporting Actor - Mahershala Ali (Green Book) Best Supporting Actress - Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place) Best Stunt Team in a Feature Film - Black Panther TELEVISION Best Ensemble in a Drama Series - This Is Us Best Actor in a Drama Series - Jason Bateman (Ozark) Best Actress in a Drama Series - Sandra O (Killing Eve) Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series - The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Best Comedy Series Actor - Tony Shalub ("The Amazing Mrs. Maisel") Choice Comedy Series Actress - Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) Best Actor, TV Movie or Miniseries - Darren Criss (American Crime Story) Best Actress in a TV Movie or Mini-Series - Patricia Arquette (Escape from Dannemora) Best Stunt Team in a TV Series - Shine Honorary Award for Contribution to the Development of the Industry - Alan Alda The Topic of Article: Best Acting Work of 2018. |
