Netflix has made significant strides in producing original series in a variety of genres, from dramas like Husky and Mindhunter to adaptations of Marvel comics such as Daredevil, Luke Cage and more. Recently, the streaming giant sent in the development of the adaptation of the series of books in the dark fantasy genre "The Witcher". According to Variety, Henry Cavill will star in the upcoming show.The series tells how the monster hunter Geralt of Rivia tries to find his place in a world where people are often more terrible than forest monsters. Fate brings the witcher with a powerful sorceress and a young princess who keeps a dangerous secret, and the trio set off on an exciting journey across the unpredictable Continent.  At the end of last year, we reported that Lauren Schmidt took over as showrunner. In addition, Alik Sakharov, director of such cult TV series as "Dexter" "Game of Thrones" and "The Sopranos", will direct four episodes of the first season, and Alex Garcia Lopez ("Fear the Walking Dead") and Charlotte Brandstrom ("Arrow") - two at a time. Cavill last appeared on television in The Tudors in 2010. On the big screens, the British actor was recently seen in the blockbuster Mission: Impossible: Consequences. Henry gained the greatest popularity thanks to his role as Superman in the DC cinematic universe, having embodied the image of the character in three films of the franchise - "Man of Steel", "Batman v Superman" and "Justice League". Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski published the first story from The Witcher in the 1980s, and the last novel, Season of Thunderstorms, was published in 2013.
