Review of the movie Third Extra 2. Dedicated to McFarlane fans

Naturally, "The Third Extra" has become the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy in the history of cinema for a reason. Its creator, Seth MacFarlane, although sometimes hiding behind vulgar jokes below the belt, in fact creates a universal social satire. You seem to be laughing, but you are still scratching yourself behind your ear. "The third extra 2" was no exception, even if he organized a lot of side problems for himself.

The bear remained the same unbridled drug addict, who this time was impatient to have a child (the baby can be mourned in advance) in order to end conflicts with my wife. Along the way, he will have to try to steal sperm from an American football player, prove that he is no thing, escape from the manic Giovanni Ribisi and play tricks for nothing. In the end, the movie has too much history merged characters like lawyer Morgan Freeman and completely unnecessary lyrical digressions. So at some stage, the comedy is even somehow lost among other genres.

Moreover, the movie begins on a high note. Jokes pour in one after another, Tom Brady and Liam Neeson shine in their short cameos, the plot is captivating, and Amanda Seyfried is revealed from a completely unexpected side. “ Third extra 2 ” full of witty gags reflecting human habits, world history and the latest high-profile news. Here and there you come across parody pieces of popular culture that will be appreciated by fans of either Star Wars or Jurassic Park. Heroes have time to pretty much “ kick ” infamous celebrities. The trouble is that all these bonuses specifically knock the movie off course and turn it into a stumbling sketch, stretched out over a painfully long two hours. Seth MacFarlane is far from being a fool, but he still didn't manage to make a slender movie.

Comedies just can't last that long. And this despite the fact that the movie has already been significantly cut (you will not see some of the moments shown in the trailers on the big screen). Too many unnecessary characters automatically generate too many unnecessary scenes, which in turn turn into completely unnecessary storylines that only prevent the action from gaining momentum. Therefore, the movie does not increase the tempo over time, but rather slows it down, for a short period of time generally turning into a complete repetition of the plot of the first part.

Even worse, that the main characters say a lot of pretty loud phrases in the movie about what it means to be human and to empathize with each other. However, when in one scene a teddy bear with a drunken swearing throws apples at the athletes running past his house, and in the next he tells how he deserves to become a part of society, a complete dissonance occurs in the viewer's head. Laughing with the characters is easy, but empathizing with them is much more difficult. That's why when McFarlane tries to take a more serious approach to everything that happens, it becomes really eerie funny. But not in a good sense of the word.

The actors act out very well, of course. Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and a teddy bear are very organically combined on the screen, but a lot in the second part and Jessica Bart. We can safely say that the latter deserved all the time allotted to her. She leaves such a bright stamp on the movie that you don't even notice the absence of Mila Kunis.

It is the cast that often pulls the movie out of the pit of mediocrity, because it was movieed extremely second-rate. All interiors are dull and uninteresting, all camera movements are standard and boring. What exactly McFarlane brings as director of the project never became clear. Anyone could make such a movie. Much more valuable is the creator of “ Family Guy ” in the scenario room and the voiceover of the title character, and in the visual field, someone else is needed. Although all the music in the movie hit the box office. The soundtrack turned out to be varied, perky and sensual.

Separately, it is worth noting the scene with the credits at the very beginning. In no case should you be late for her. This is perhaps the culmination of McFarlane's work as a director: a vibrant, gripping, perfectly coordinated, planned and movieed spectacle that gives the movie the necessary boost in the beginning. It is a pity that the momentum was not long enough.

And so “ Third extra 2 ” it turned out not only much weaker than the first, more organic and consistent part. It is also a very boring, mediocre movie, in which especially good jokes or especially interesting ideas slip through only occasionally. Fans of McFarlane and his sense of humor will definitely be delighted, and all lovers of well-told stories are better off staying on the sidelines and laughing somehow later, at their leisure. Otherwise, this is the same bear with very high self-esteem and vulgar habits. Oh yes,
