Will Taika Waititi take over as director of Guardians of the Galaxy?
Despite the mass of recent successful blockbusters, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going through hard times right now. The studio has yet to reveal plans for upcoming films after Avengers 4. It is only known that the sequel to "Spider-Man" is currently being filmed, and the next in line was supposed to be the third part of "Guardians of the Galaxy". However, after James Gunn was fired, the franchise was in jeopardy.According to The Hollywood Reporter, production of the triquel has been suspended. The film crew, which was preparing for preproduction, was disbanded. While a premiere date has yet to be announced, sources say the filming schedule has shifted. The film appears to be a priority for both Marvel and Disney, but it is still unclear if the film will be released at all, given that most of the franchise's actors are unhappy with the studio's decision to fire the director. Now the House of Mouse is looking for a new director. Marvel is in talks with the filmmakers, but production of the triquel will probably not start on schedule anymore. Gann was fired so abruptly that the studios simply did not prepare for his departure. Disney usually has enough time to change directors. So, when Ron Howard took the director's chair of the film about Han Solo instead of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the production of the tape did not even stop.  Insiders report that one of the candidates is Taika Waititi, director of the Thor: Ragnarok movie comic strip. The filmmaker is rumored to have recently met with Marvel representatives, but it is not known what project they discussed. Recall that initially the tape was supposed to be directed by James Gunn, and filming was scheduled for early next year. In late July, Disney fired the director over a series of offensive tweets. While many hoped for Gunn's return, Disney CEO Alan Horn made the final decision in mid-August to terminate the director's contract.
