Woody Allen is back in action

Image Woody Allen's name has repeatedly appeared in sex scandals, and, apparently, the director during this time masterfully mastered the art of waiting for the moment. As soon as the wave of the #MeToo movement subsided, old Woody showed up with the news: this time about the release of a new romantic comedy. Filming, which will run from July to August, will feature Christoph Waltz, Gina Gershon, Wallace Shawn, Sergi Lopez, Louis Garrel and Elena Anaya. The events of the film will unfold in the Spanish resort town of San Sebastian.

The working title of the painting is WASP2019. According to the plot, an American married couple goes to the San Sebastian Film Festival, where they plunge headlong into the magic of the cinema world and the beauty of Spain. She starts an affair with a famous French director, and he falls in love with a local woman.

The film will be co-produced by MediaPro, which has previously worked with Allen on the set of Midnight in Paris, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

WASP2019 is Woody Allen's first project since the #MeToo scandal, when director Dylan O'Sullivan Farrow's adopted daughter accused her stepfather of sexual harassment. Following accusations from the actress, Amazon refused to release Allen's film A Rainy Day in New York, starring Timothy Chalamet and Selena Gomez. This prompted the director to file a $ 68 million lawsuit in which he accused Amazon of breach of contract. According to the agreement, Allen was supposed to direct four films, while at the time of the studio's announcement, the director had only released "Wheel of Wonders" and completed production on "Rainy Day in New York". Representatives of the platform, in turn, said that due to the current situation with Allen, Amazon will not be able to profit from the agreement drawn up with the director. Allen subsequently reported that the studio owed him $ 9 million, since he himself had to finance the picture. As it became known later, Woody Allen's "Rainy Day in New York" will be released in Italy thanks to local distributor Lucky Red from October 3 this year.
