WB collects Birds of Prey

Image Last week we wrote that the Birds of Prey project is probably currently in active development at the DC studio. Today, the "birds of prey" themselves were announced: according to The Wrap, the Black Canary, the Huntress, Cassandra Kane and Rene Montoya will join the Harley Quinn gang in the upcoming movie comic strip. In addition, it was revealed that the villain in this film will be a character from the comics about Batman, who has never appeared on the big screens.

Loyal fans of DC comics are familiar with the announced characters. Black Canary, also known as Dina Laurel Lance, is a martial artist and possesses "canary scream" - a super ability that can stun and even kill opponents. Laurel comes from a family of crime fighters: her father, Larry Lance, was a detective, and her mother, Dina Drake, was the first black canary from whom her daughter inherited her costume.

Helena Bertinelli, also known as the Huntress, is the daughter of one of Gotham's mafiosi. After the mafia killed her entire family, she vowed revenge and donned a superhero costume. Cassandra Kane is a master of hand-to-hand combat, as well as the Huntress, who does not have superpowers. And, finally, Rene Montoya is a police officer of Gotham City, after the death of the mysterious superhero Question, who took on his appearance.

Margot Robbie will produce and reprise the role of Harley Quinn. The film will be directed by Katie Yan, best known for her directorial debut Dead Pigs, which won the Jury's Special Prize for Cast at this year's Sundance Festival. Yan is the third woman to direct films in the DC Universe. She is also the first Asian director on DC's directing team. The script for the superhero tape was written by Christina Hodson, who is also working on the film "Batgirl".
