Keith Winslet's passion for paleontology

Image Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan have joined the cast of the historical drama Ammonite, inspired by the life of paleontologist Mary Anning, Variety reports. Filming will start in March.

The action will unfold in England in the 1840s. Mary meets a young girl at a seaside resort, where they have a passionate romance that will forever change their lives. Anning has been searching for fossils since childhood and made a number of scientific discoveries in the field of marine fauna, finding fossils of the Jurassic period in the rocks along the English Channel.

Will put a painting by Francis Lee. His critically acclaimed film, God's Land, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year, where the director received a Director's Award for World Cinema. Ammonite will be produced by Ein Canning and Emil Sherman, who collaborated on Widows, The King's Speech! and "Shame", and Fodla Cronin O'Reilly ("Lady Macbeth") will keep them company.
