Jackie Chan will climb Everest

Image During his long and successful career in the world of big cinema, Jackie Chan has won the hearts of millions of viewers and won many prestigious awards. The legendary stunt and martial arts master is ready to take a new peak. Everyone's favorite actor signed up for a film about China's first successful ascent of Mount Everest.

At the Filmart festival in Hong Kong these days, it was announced that Jackie will star in the biographical drama tentatively titled The Climbers. Its plot will be based on a real story about how in 1960 the inhabitants of the Celestial Empire conquered the highest peak of the Earth.

Initially, Chinese climbers were supposed to climb Chomolungma together with their Soviet colleagues, but at the end of the 50s of the last century, a split was outlined in relations between the two countries. Since most of the equipment was to be provided by the Soviet side, the Chinese authorities had to urgently purchase mountain equipment from Switzerland. As a result, the mission to conquer Everest cost China at least $ 700,000.

On March 3, 1960, a team of 192 people arrived at the Chomolungma base camp. Due to severe weather conditions, the expedition lasted until May 25. Only three participants reached the top of the mountain, and one of them lost all his toes due to severe frostbite.

Jackie Chan's co-stars are Jackie Wu (War of the Wolves), Jing Bozhan (Monster Hunt), Hu Ge (The Fall of the Last Empire) and Zhang Ziyi (Memoirs of a Geisha). Daniel Lee ("14 Blades") will take the director's chair for the film about brave Chinese climbers.
