Review of the cartoon Rapunzel: A Tangled Story. A ray of light in the dark kingdom

Writing reviews for Walt Disney's full-length cartoons is extremely difficult, but also simple at the same time. Difficult because they are all about the same thing in the end, and highlighting something special in the next project is not a trivial task. And it's simple because all the emotions generated by the body during an hour and a half of watching the next Disney creation can be described with just one word - love. It is about this, about this, and this is what the animated fairy tale "Rapunzel: A Tangled Story is based on.

First, about what does not make sense at all to spread thought along the tree. It makes no sense to speculate about the technical aspects of Rapunzel. The visuals are habitually Disney flawless the musical accompaniment usually takes the soul, and the dubbing is of the usual high quality for projects of this level. If you are just a lover of high-end animation, then Rapunzel - this is another cartoon that will take its rightful place in your collection of genre masterpieces.

But the technicalities are sheer nonsense when it comes to Disney reimagining classic fairy tales. And this is where the difficulties begin.

In Rapunzel everything in its place. And a blonde beauty with superhuman eyes, and a reckless hero, full of romanticism, and wordless secondary characters, which are often funnier than the main ones, and classic villains with equally inhuman eyes, one glance at which leaves no doubt about their true intentions, and the most banal melodramatic tricks, dating back to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Why? Why does it all work again and again ?!

There is only one answer. Because the animation tradition created by the genius of Walt Disney hits the most important thing. Because we, who unloaded in complete brutality from the metro, escaped from traffic jams, outwitted everyone at work, fought off our loved ones, quarreled with our former and present, and just mired in mat, cheap alcohol, and no less cheap propaganda from a zombie box, suddenly we stop crunching popcorn and for a short moment, like the Big Bang, we don't understand, but we feel the main thing. Something that really makes sense. Perhaps even this is: “And he said, Let there be light.”

" Rapunzel: A Tangled Story " just about this, about this and this is. Take your child with you, he will laugh, take a girl with you, she will sob a couple of times, take mom and dad with you, they will remember how it was a long time ago. Take yourself, and if you are still alive at all, then a silly, banal story about a girl with magical hair who fell in love with a crook and changed the whole world, will strike you with a high-precision blow to what we are all so successfully hiding - our soul.

And all your other senses will belong to the chameleon with the sonorous nickname Pascal.

“And he said, Let there be light.”
