Plush UNHAPPY. Review of the film ”The third extra”
If you are a fan of Family Guy and American Dad! and moreover, you know who Seth MacFarlane is - feel free to pass by this article. It will hardly be a discovery for you that on August 2 the film "The Third Extra" will start in the USA box office, in which the talented author-animator first performed the role of scriptwriter and director. We will try to bring the rest up to date and hint what to expect from his debut, and what product Hollywood is offering us this time.First, briefly about the plot.Once upon a time there was a little boy who had no friends at all. And now he has a big teddy bear, which becomes his only, and therefore his best friend. One day, eight-year-old John discovers that his pleas were heard - the bear Ted - suddenly came to life. A real sensation!  The main action of the film takes place nearly three decades later. John (Mark Wahlberg) finds the one who, with the blessing of heaven, reciprocates. At one fine moment, the beauty Lori (Mila Kunis) got tired of the fact that her lover spends all his free, and sometimes working time with his bosom friend, loafers, drinks, smokes grass and does not want to grow up at all. All this resulted in an ultimatum: John had to choose between his best friend and his girlfriend.  You will understand what to expect from the film if you watch several voiced trailers and a feature, or pay attention to the rating assigned to the film "R", which for parents should be like a red traffic light. Adults, before letting their underage child go to this picture, should think very well and more than once. The tape, like other creations of McFarlane, is replete with humor below the belt, however, fortunately, not only them. The experience gained during the work on animated series was not wasted for the director and screenwriter. The picture is also filled with social satire, and banter over pop icons of modern youth, and numerous references to famous television and movies, as well as completely unexpected appearances of various stars. But all this does not look like a senseless heap of humorous cliches, but like a precisely planned animation and stage action.  Perhaps those who are not at all able to enjoy the picture are those who are not even the slightest connoisseur of Star Wars and are not familiar with comics and overseas television products. Such viewers risk leaving the viewing with bewilderment: why did the audience from time to time shake with laughter?  Now a few words about the main characters of the picture. Mishka Ted, to whom McFarlane himself gave his habits and voice, it is not difficult to guess, beyond any competition. Mark Wahlberg - a solid five for not trying to outshine the main star of the picture and just playing a 35-year-old guy. And there are no special complaints about Mile Kunis . She did the job in good faith and looked, which is important, funny. We should also mention the inimitable Giovanni Ribisi, who simply mesmerizingly played the role of a violently insane maniac.Confirmation that the debut of McFarlane in a feature film was a success is his own words. Presenting the other day at Comic-Con the new season of Family Guy , the director let it slip about the sequel to Superfluous Third.
