A special press conference on the future of stereoscopic cinema was held at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, with James Cameron, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and George Lucas as guests.

According to The Hollywood Reporter , all three confirmed the inevitability of the drift of the entire cinema towards stereoscopy and high technologies. In particular, Jord Lucas, answering Katzenberg's humorous question: "Will the seventh episode of Star Wars be movieed in 3D?", - said that it will be not just three-dimensional, but holographic. Lucas also clarified that the cost of converting the original trilogy will be significantly higher than the cost of producing the movies themselves.

In turn, Katzenberg said, that his company is working to improve the workflow for processing computer animation. What used to take hours, if not days of computation, will soon happen in real time. "This will be a real revolution that will make the work of our artists and moviemakers a lot easier," he said.

As for James Cameron, he confirmed his intention to shoot two Avatar sequels with higher frame rates than accepted in the cinema now. The director promised to arrange a demonstration so that viewers can see how shooting at up to 60 frames per second differs in picture quality. "Stereoscopic cinema is a window to the real world. And now we will also remove the glass from this window," Cameron added.
