The Walt Disney Company unveiled a unique animated short movie, compiled from the earliest known drawings by Walt Disney today.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cartoon is only a few seconds long and is dedicated to the Lucky Rabbit Oswald, who is considered the "forerunner" the most famous animated character of all time - Mickey Mouse.

Disney made these sketches in the second half of the 1920s, when he was still at Universal Studios. Together with animator Ab Iwerks, he created for Universal the first ever animated series featuring a resourceful rabbit.

In early 1928, following the success of Oswald, Disney asked for more funding for his studio. but the management of the company refused and even poached some of the employees. In addition, it turned out that all rights to the character do not belong to Disney, since, having signed the contract in a hurry, he did not pay attention to the copyright clause.

It was a real disaster for Walt Disney. He soon left Universal to found his own studio, and in November 1928, viewers saw Mickey Mouse for the first time.

In 2006, the Walt Disney Company regained all rights to Lucky Rabbit Oswald.
