Stereo Titanic paid off at launch
By the end of the first weekend in the American box office, the stereo version of Titanic earned $ 25.7 million. Thus, the re-release of the movie can already be considered successful, since the process of converting it into 3D cost the creators $ 18 million. Outside North America, the famous movie was received with even more enthusiasm and earned $ 35 million. FOX movie executives say they hoped to earn 18 percent less. In many European countries, Titanic 3D headed the national box office. It is noteworthy that in USA the movie grossed $ 4.9 million in its first weekend, about the same as in 1998, when it was first released.
